My mentoring focuses on both individual and group development opportunities. Through one-to-one mentoring, I work with artists to develop their careers strategically, helping them navigate the complexities of the arts sector while strengthening their artistic practice.
This includes guidance on work development, curatorial and conceptual feedback, building professional relationships, developing fundraising and exhibition strategies and creating long-term artistic visions that align with practical career goals.
I also facilitate group mentoring programmes that bring together artists in peer learning circles, fostering collaboration and building supportive creative communities.
I also offer gestalt coaching specifically designed for artists seeking to break through creative challenges, align their artistic vision with their authentic self, and navigate the complex relationship between their practice and career aspirations.
This coaching approach focuses on present-moment awareness, helping you understand how you experience and interact with your practice, rather than simply analysing what might be wrong or missing.
Gestalt coaching helps you develop heightened awareness of your creative patterns, emotional responses, and the stories you tell yourself about your work and worth as an artist. Through this awareness, you can identify where you might be stuck, what you’re avoiding, and how you inadvertently limit your creative expression or professional growth.
The approach recognises that creative blocks often stem from deeper conflicts between different parts of yourself perhaps between the artist who wants to experiment and the professional who needs to earn income, or between your authentic creative voice and what you believe the art world and the market wants.
This coaching method honours your creativity as an integral part of who you are, rather than treating it as a separate skill to be optimised.
Understanding the funding landscape is essential for contemporary artists, and I provide extensive support in navigating this complex terrain. I help artists identify suitable funding opportunities and develop multi-source funding strategies that reduce dependency on single income streams.
This includes creating funding calendars, building relationships with funders and stakeholders, and developing compelling proposals with strong narratives and realistic budgets.
I provide specialised support for navigating various funders grant programmes including public agencies such as Arts Council England, Creative Scotland, Arts Council Wales and Arts Council Northern Ireland. The process begins with helping artists assess which programmes are most suitable for their projects and developing strategic approaches that optimise their chances of success. I guide applicants through the entire process, from initial eligibility review through to submission and follow-up.
My support includes supporting you to develop project descriptions and artistic cases, creating robust management and delivery plans, preparing detailed budgets with clear financial justifications, and curating supporting materials that strengthen applications. I also provide post-submission support, helping artists interpret feedback and improve future applications based on lessons learned.
I am also experienced at providing access support for artists making applications or access support during project implementation and some funders such as Arts Council England will provide additional support for this work.
Project development forms a crucial part of my offering, beginning with concept development where I help artists refine their ideas and strengthen their artistic vision.
This involves developing robust development strategies, structuring collaborative projects and building networks of support, and creating realistic timelines with achievable milestones.
I can provide pre-production support through feasibility assessments, partnership development, fundraising, budget planning, team building, and distribution and exhibition strategies.
Throughout the project lifecycle, I offer project management support that includes implementation planning, progress monitoring, and maintaining creative integrity while solving practical problems.
